Who, me?

Writer's Digest, June 2007, page 23 in their Your Story contest offer this writing prompt:
A gambler at a private high-stakes poker game is caught cheating.
Taken from The Writer's Book of Matches by the staff of fresh boiled peanuts, a literary journal.

So wrap some characters around the poker table, and reveal that cheating. What happens?

For bonus points, consider other games and such. Does it change things when the game is horseracing? Or tiddlywinks?

Jokers?

What did you do?

Writer's Digest, March/April 2009, page 59, contest number 17 has the writing prompt:
A 20-something man sits in a taxi in front of his parents' house, trying to find the strength to tell them that he (fill in the blank).
From The Writer's Book of Matches by the staff of fresh boiled peanuts: a literary journal

What would a twentysomething man be afraid to tell his parents?

Feel free to switch the genders here -- that could be a woman sitting in front of her parents' house, too.

Just go ahead and write.
